Q: Why are granites different prices?
A: Price depends primarily on the degree of difficulty in quarrying. For example, Blue Pearl is one of the more expensive types of granite as only about 20% of the quarried material is suitable for domestic use. |
Q: What are the benefits of using granite?
A: Granite is a product of nature and has a beauty not seen in man made products. It is a solid surface which requires little maintenance. Matching granite backsplashes provide a stunning appearance. Granite maximises the impact a kitchen has in a home. |
Q: How do I maintain granite?
A: A chamois, when used daily, keeps the granite sparkling; we also provide a number of polishers and sealers. |
Q: Do I need to select my slabs or are the samples accurate enough?
A: Since granite is a product of nature, differences in colour and grain do occur. Our experience has shown that 80% of the time materials vary from batch to batch. |
Q: Will the granite stain?
A: Although all products that come out of the shop are sealed with impregnator, we do not recommend you leave red wine or oil spills, hot greasy pots on counter tops for an extended period of time. That’s why we recommend sealing the granite every few months with one of the impregnators we provide. |
Q: Will the granite chip?
A: With normal use no. Any product will scratch if abused with other than kitchen utensils. |
Q: Can a hot saucepan be placed directly on the granite?
A: Although in 99% of cases this will not cause problems, it is not recommended. We recommend making a cutting board out of the sink leftover for this purpose. |
Q: What cleaning products are available?
A: Ottawa Granite Pro provides a weekly cleanser/polisher and a sealer. However, the most successful method of keeping the granite clean is wiping it with a chamois once a day. |
